Kevin Sussman will be recognised by many as Walter from the classic 2000s series Ugly Betty and as Stuart Bloom from Big Bang Theory. The former saw him nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Ensemble Award, while the latter won him his share of CinEuphoria Ensemble Award. Big Bang Theory ended in 2019, but Sussman remains busy and spent 2022 appearing shows such as Better Call Saul and The Dropout. In 2023, he will appear in a new Apple TV drama series called Lessons in Chemistry.
Sussman got his first breaks in the acting profession in the late 1990s, finding himself perfectly suited for playing geeky characters in TV commercials. After getting his first movie acting break in the 1999 film Liberty Heights, he initially focused on the big screen, appearing in major films such as Almost Famous and Sweet Home Alabama. His major break, however, came in 2006 when he was cast in Ugly Betty, a comedy-drama series that retains a huge cult following all these years later. Sussman played Walter in the first season, but his role as Stuart in Big Bang Theory proved to be longer-lasting as he played the character for a decade, appearing in 85 episodes.
Among Sussman’s other TV acting roles are multiple episodes of Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul, Weeds, Call Me Kat, and The Dropout — a dramatization of the rise and fall of Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes. The upcoming Lessons in Chemistry sees him once again play a character called Walter.
