Multi-talented PJ Liguori is better known to his 1.4 million YouTube subscribers as KickThePj, the host of a channel that has amassed over 105 million views. Under the banner “A place to get weird”, the channel showcases Liguori’s writing, directing, acting, singing, editing, producing, and design skills. In 2014, he helped to create Oscar’s Hotel for Fantastical Creatures, a web-series that broke Vimeo’s On-Demand sales record and won Liguori at Streamy Award for Directing. He’d previously won the People’s Choice Award at the 2012 Virgin Media Awards for his short film, PJ, Tiny Planet Explorer.
Liguori was born in Peterborough to Italian parents and was an Italian citizen until his mid-teens. He opened his YouTube account in 2007, when he was 16. His interest in film-making and digital arts led him to study at the University for the Creative Arts in Surrey, although by then he had already begun to make a name for himself. In 2011, he released his debut album, Stories from Somewhere, which consisted of self-penned short stories set to music. In 2013, following the success of his album and PJ, The Tiny Planet Explorer, he premiered two more short films: Colour Bandits and The Forever Train.
In 2018, Liguori added yet another string to his considerable bow when he embarked on a 12-date live UK tour with a show called Space Trip, a storytelling show revolving around the fictional planet of Kazam and its inhabitants. In 2019, he directed his first major music video, for ‘Monster’ by singer-songwriter sensation Dodie Clark.
