As the world’s first modern virtual YouTuber, Kizuna AI revolutionized digital entertainment, launching her groundbreaking YouTube channel, ‘A.I.Channel,’ on November 29, 2016. Her initial content, created by Tokyo-based digital production company Activ8, defined many characteristics associated with VTubers, featuring discussions, Q&A videos, and ‘Let’s Play’ gaming. Her rapid ascent was evidenced by exceeding 100,000 subscribers by February 2017. She further expanded her digital footprint by establishing ‘A.I.Games’ in March 2017 for dedicated gaming content and ‘A.I.Channel China’ in June 2019 to engage a broader Chinese audience.

In December 2021, Kizuna AI announced an indefinite hiatus. This strategic pause led to future innovations, including the development of a highly anticipated spin-off character and the anime project, ‘Kizuna no Allele,’ which was announced in February 2022 and premiered in April 2023, showcasing the expansion of her universe. Kizuna AI is slated to resume her activities in February 2025, with plans to concentrate on new music releases and engaging live concerts, continuing her trajectory as a versatile and influential virtual artist.
