Kristen Kjellman

Kristen Kjellman, a two-time Tewaaraton Trophy winner in 2006 and 2007, made history as the first athlete, male or female, to secure the prestigious award in consecutive seasons. Kjellman was also recognized as the Inside Lacrosse National Rookie of the Year and Co-National Rookie of the Year in 2004, a three-time Honda Sports Award winner for lacrosse (2005, 2006, 2007), and a three-time American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) Player of the Year. Her exceptional midfield play also earned her the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse Midfielder of the Year titles in both 2006 and 2007. Her prowess continued on the national stage, joining the U.S.

National Elite team in 2007. She made her first World Cup appearance in 2009, contributing significantly to the team’s gold medal victory at the 2009 World Championships in Prague. Following this success, she was named to the All-World Team as a midfielder. Earlier, in 2008, Kjellman was recognized for her commercial success, earning the National Rookie of the Year for Nike Sales.

Transitioning her leadership and expertise, Kjellman has remained deeply involved in the sport. She has served as an Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Phillips Exeter Academy, where she applies her championship experience to mentor rising talent. Beyond coaching, Kjellman expanded her influence in the lacrosse community by taking on the role of VP, Content at WePlayed Sports, a platform dedicated to enhancing sports engagement and content delivery. Her lasting impact on the sport was further cemented with her selection as a 2024 National Lacrosse Hall of Fame inductee.
