Kuo Shu-yao

Kuo Shu-yao, also known by her nickname Yao Yao, was born on July 18, 1990, in Taipei, Taiwan. Her career began at a young age, driven by personal circumstances. In May 2007, following the passing of her father, Kuo started working part-time at a restaurant to help support her family. Two years later, in 2009, she entered the entertainment industry as a model. This marked the beginning of her public career, which soon expanded into music and acting.

After signing with Seed Music in 2007, Kuo Shu-yao debuted as a singer, releasing her mini-album “Love Hug” on August 22, 2007. She continued to build her presence in television and film, taking on various roles. A significant turning point in her acting career occurred in 2013 when she won the Golden Horse Award for Best New Performer for her role in the film “Step Back to Glory.” This award recognized her acting capabilities and marked her transition towards more serious roles. In 2017, she took on the titular character in “The Teenage Psychic,” an HBO Asia’s first Mandarin-language original series, which further solidified her status as an actress.

Kuo Shu-yao has also ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing her fashion brand, Myâme, in 2021. This move reflects her interests beyond performing arts. Throughout her career, she has continued to engage with audiences through various platforms, demonstrating her versatility as an artist and businesswoman. Her work in both music and acting has garnered her several awards and nominations, showcasing her sustained presence and influence in the Taiwanese entertainment landscape.
