Langston Kerman

Langston Kerman was born on April 23, 1987, in Oak Park, Illinois, USA. He pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Michigan in 2009. Following his undergraduate studies, he dedicated a year to teaching poetry at his former high school. Kerman furthered his academic pursuits by obtaining a Master of Fine Arts in poetry from Boston University. Subsequently, he transitioned into a full-time career in stand-up comedy, where he quickly established himself as a notable talent. His early career saw him performing at various venues and gaining recognition for his unique comedic style.

Kerman’s career progression saw him expand into acting and writing for television. He had a recurring role as Jered in Issa Rae’s scripted comedy-drama series “Insecure” for seven episodes between 2016 and 2018. In 2016, he became a writer for the 88th Academy Awards, hosted by Chris Rock, showcasing his writing abilities on a national stage. His first half-hour special, “Lightskinned Feelings,” aired on Comedy Central in 2018, accompanied by an hour-long comedy album of the same name, which was recorded at San Francisco’s Punchline Comedy Club. This album was recognized by Vulture as one of the 10 Best Comedy Albums of 2018, marking a significant milestone in his stand-up career.

His acting portfolio includes roles such as Eagle the Archer in “The Boys” (2020-2026 for 5 episodes), Darnell in “Abbott Elementary” (2024-2026 for 3 episodes), and Jesse Watson in “The Other Black Girl” (2023 for 4 episodes). Kerman has also made significant contributions as a writer and producer. He co-created, co-starred in, and executive produced the Peacock series “Bust Down” in 2022. Additionally, he served as head writer and executive producer for “Pause with Sam Jay” (2021-2022) and was a co-producer for “Kenan” (2021). In 2024, his first standalone comedy special, “Bad Poetry,” directed by John Mulaney, was released on Netflix, garnering critical acclaim for its distinctive approach to comedy. He will appear in the upcoming Warner Bros film “Cut Off” alongside Jonah Hill and Kristen Wiig.
