About

Laura Okmin has built a distinguished career as a sports reporter, known for her work with networks such as FOX Sports, Westwood One, TNT/TBS Sports, and CNN. She has covered major sports events including over ten Super Bowls, three Olympics, multiple NBA Finals, World Series, and All-Star Games. Her professional approach has enabled her to cultivate strong relationships within the sports community, focusing on building trust rather than merely gathering information from sources. Okmin’s career began after graduating from the University of Kansas with a Journalism degree, where she started as a sports reporter and anchor in Montgomery, Alabama, and Chattanooga, Tennessee, before moving to SportsChannel in Chicago. While covering the Chicago Bulls’ championship run, she earned a Chicago Midwest Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Sports.

In 2002, Okmin joined FOX Sports Network, where she held various roles as a host, anchor, and reporter. She hosted FOXSports.com’s coverage of the 2012 Summer Games in London and the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, and also contributed to the network’s Divisional Playoff coverage. Beyond her reporting duties, Okmin founded LO Productions in 2007, where she developed and executive-produced “PROfiles,” a 30-minute series for FSN that explored NFL personalities off the field. This venture demonstrated her drive to create and own content, securing VIZIO as a title sponsor.

Okmin’s influence extends beyond broadcasting. She is the founder of GALvanize, a company dedicated to mentoring and training women entering the sports world, offering boot camps and workshops across the country. Through GALvanize, she established the Stuart Scott Minority Scholarship, providing opportunities for young women in need. She also provides media training for professional athletes, coaches, and sports teams, and serves as a senior media consultant for the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association. Laura also sits on the Board of Trustees of the University of Kansas William Allen White Journalism School, which established a Laura Okmin Scholarship for young women with financial need. In 2002, she authored a children’s book, “Mommy Has Cancer,” in honor of her late mother.
