Lauren Drew was born on February 17, 1993, in Port Talbot, Wales. Her formative years in musical theatre began with a BTEC National Diploma at Neath Port Talbot College, followed by advanced studies at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, from which she graduated in 2016. In the same year, Drew demonstrated her emerging talent by becoming a finalist in the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year competition. Her career commenced with her professional stage debut in the ensemble of the UK tour of “Ghost” in 2016, quickly leading to her West End debut in “Kinky Boots” at the Adelphi Theatre in 2017. This early progression established her as a noteworthy performer in the British theatre scene.
Drew’s career trajectory continued with significant roles, including Suzanne in “Sweet Charity” at the Donmar Warehouse and understudy for Eva Peron in “Evita” at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2019. A notable milestone was her portrayal of Catherine of Aragon in the 2019 UK tour of “Six,” a role she reprised in 2021. In 2021, Drew gained broader recognition when she competed in the tenth series of “The Voice UK,” reaching the semi-finals after impressing judges with her vocal abilities. Her performance as Brooke Wyndham in “Legally Blonde” at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2022 earned her the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Supporting Performer in a Musical, further cementing her reputation in the industry.
More recently, Drew originated the titular role in the musical “Lizzie” in 2023, performing across various venues including the Hope Mill Theatre and Southwark Playhouse, for which she won the Broadway World Award for Best Leading Performer in a Musical. In 2024, she took on the role of Céline Dion in the jukebox musical “Titanique” at the Criterion Theatre, garnering an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. Her diverse roles and consistent critical acclaim highlight her versatility and dedication to musical theatre.
