Steve Cardenas transitioned from a successful martial artist to a recognized actor, best known for his role as the Red Ranger in the ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ series, and has since established himself as a martial arts studio owner and coach. After joining the iconic ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ television series in 1994 as Rocky DeSantos, the second Red Ranger, Steve Cardenas quickly became a recognized actor and martial artist. He continued his pivotal role in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995), solidifying his presence within the popular franchise. Cardenas’ extensive background in martial arts, including over 30 years of experience, holding a 5th-degree black belt in Taekwondo and a 3rd-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, provided a foundational expertise that translated seamlessly to his action-oriented roles.
Most recently, he reunited with the cast for the 30th anniversary Netflix special, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always (2023), captivating a new generation of fans. Today, Steve Cardenas continues to lead as the owner and operator of Force Balance BJJ in Burbank, California, embodying his dual success as a celebrated actor and an accomplished martial arts master.
