Lee Mack

Lee Gordon McKillop, known professionally as Lee Mack, was born on August 4, 1968, in Southport, Lancashire, England. His early life included living above a pub until he was 12 and working in various jobs, including a stable boy where he notably rode racehorse Red Rum. He later became a Bluecoat entertainer at Pontins, which inadvertently led him to discover his talent for comedy. Mack pursued a degree in Drama at Brunel University in 1994, where he performed his first open mic slot. Within 18 months, he transitioned to a full-time career in comedy, quickly establishing himself.

Mack gained significant recognition after winning “So You Think You’re Funny” at the 1995 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His sketch comedy show, “Lee Mack’s New Bits,” earned him a Perrier Award nomination in 2000. On television, he was a cast member for ITV’s “The Sketch Show” from 2001 to 2004, which also featured an American adaptation. In 2006, Mack created, wrote, and starred in the BBC One sitcom “Not Going Out,” which has become the UK’s longest-running sitcom. He has also been a team captain on the BBC One panel show “Would I Lie to You?” since 2007, showcasing his improvisational skills and humor to a broad audience.

Throughout his career, Mack has hosted numerous television and radio programs, including “The Lee Mack Show” on BBC Radio 2, “Lee Mack’s All Star Cast” (2011), and “Duck Quacks Don’t Echo” (2014-2017). His recent work includes hosting the ITV game show “The 1% Club” (2022-present) and co-hosting “Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof” (2022) on BBC One. Mack has also made appearances in popular shows like “Doctor Who” (2018) and “Taskmaster” (2021). His contributions to television and comedy have been recognized with multiple awards, including BAFTA Awards for Best Comedy Programme or Series and Best Entertainment Performance.
