About

Born on April 18, 1995, in Incheon, South Korea, Lee Seung-yun began his archery career in 2005. He made his international debut in 2013 and quickly established himself as a significant competitor in recurve archery. In his debut year, Lee achieved immediate success, securing team and individual medals at the 2013 Archery World Cup. He also reached the final of the 2013 World Archery Championships, where he won an individual gold medal by defeating Olympic champion Oh Jin-hyek. This rapid ascent led to a career-high world ranking of 5 in 2013.

Lee Seung-yun continued to build on his early achievements, earning numerous medals at various international competitions. He was a bronze medalist at the 2014 Asian Games, a gold medalist at the 2015 Summer Universiade in individual, mixed team, and team events, and a multiple gold medalist at the Asian Championships in 2015, 2017, and 2021. A career highlight occurred at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he won a gold medal as part of the South Korean men’s team. This solidified his status as one of the top archers globally, maintaining a high match win rate of 83% across 71 matches.

His consistent performance includes multiple World Cup stage medals and additional World Championships medals, such as a team bronze in 2019. Lee’s dedication to the sport is evident through his continued success, including securing triple gold medals at the 2021 Asian Championships in Dhaka. His career is characterized by competitive excellence and a steady progression of achievements at the highest levels of international archery.
