Leon McKenzie, son of former British and European boxing champion Clinton McKenzie and nephew of three time world boxing champion Duke McKenzie, is a former professional footballer who played as a forward from 1995 to 2013 who scored in all four English Professional leagues during his career. Mckenzie has also been a professional boxer, competing in the super middleweight class.
Mckenzie began his career at Crystal Palace, appearing for Fulham and Peterborough United on loan whilst with The Eagles, before permanently moving to Peterborough in 2000. The footballer joined Norwich City and was part of the side which won promotion to the Premier League. Mckenzie would go on to play for Coventry City, Charlton Athletic and Northampton Town before dropping into non-league football.
Following his football career, the athlete would go on to become a professional boxer. He is the former International masters champion, following in his father and uncle’s footsteps. Mckenzie is also a huge ambassador for mental health, having battled depression, and has gone on to be a speaker on the topic – especially in athletic spheres. Mckenzie is also a TalkSport-(Co-host) and a Boxing-PT trainer. Currently, McKenzie is aiming to raise funds for Corby Town who have entered the Buildbase Community Club Award, as he is a believer in helping those in need.
