Born on January 13, 1990, in Melbourne, Australia, Liam Hemsworth is the youngest of three acting brothers, Chris and Luke Hemsworth. His early life was primarily spent on Phillip Island, south of Melbourne, where he cultivated a passion for surfing. Hemsworth’s acting career began in his teens, following his brothers’ path. He secured his first audition at age sixteen and appeared in Australian TV series such as ‘Home and Away’ and ‘McLeod’s Daughters’ in 2007. This was followed by a recurring role as Josh Taylor on the soap opera ‘Neighbours’ from 2007 to 2008. He also featured in ‘The Elephant Princess’ as Marcus in 2008 and ‘Satisfaction’ in 2009. His early film career included a brief appearance in ‘Knowing’ (2009) and a role in the British film ‘Triangle’ (2009).
Hemsworth moved to the United States in March 2009 to further his film career. After initial setbacks, including his role being cut from ‘The Expendables’ (2010), and losing the title role in ‘Thor’ (2011) to his brother Chris, he landed a significant role opposite Miley Cyrus in the Nicholas Sparks drama ‘The Last Song’ (2010).
