Lilia Luciano

Lilia Luciano is an award-winning journalist, filmmaker, podcaster and public speaker, recognized for her insightful reporting and documentary work across major networks. After graduating from the University of Miami in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and broadcast journalism, Lilia Luciano gained early professional experience at Telemundo, where she produced and anchored a finance and economics segment for Telemundo Internacional. She then joined Univision Networks as a correspondent and co-anchor for the evening newscast ‘En Vivo y Directo,’ and co-hosted ‘Escandalo TV’ (TeleFutura Network, 2006-2010). In December 2010, Luciano advanced her career by joining NBC News as a national correspondent based in Miami.

As a key reporter for ‘NBC Nightly News,’ ‘The Today Show,’ MSNBC, The Weather Channel, and CNBC, she covered high-profile assignments including Hurricane Irene (2011), the Casey Anthony murder trial (Summer 2011), and the Joran Van der Sloot murder trial in Peru (January 2012). Post-NBC, Luciano served as chief investigative correspondent for Discovery Channel’s ‘Border Live’ and an investigative reporter at TEGNA-owned ABC 10 in Sacramento. Her reporting earned a 2019 Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism for her four-part documentary series ‘Puerto Rico Rises,’ five Regional Emmy Awards, and a 2018 regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Northern California Wildfires coverage.

Beyond her acclaimed journalism and filmmaking, Luciano founded CoInspire, an interview series on entrepreneurship developed in partnership with Rokk3r Labs. She has contributed as a host for various Vice platforms, delivered a TEDx talk, and is a columnist for HuffPost. A dedicated advocate, Luciano has served on the Advisory Board of the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up initiative since 2013 and actively participates as a moderator at Oslo Freedom Forum Human Rights conferences since 2016.
