JB Smoove

JB Smoove is an Emmy Award-winning actor, comedian, and writer, known for his roles in television and film, who continues to entertain audiences with his unique comedic style. After joining the critically acclaimed HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm in its sixth season (2007) as the indelible character Leon Black, a role that would earn him a SAG nomination in 2018 and an NAACP Image Award nomination in 2012, JB Smoove established himself as a prominent actor and comedian. Prior to his breakthrough on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Smoove served as a writer and performer for NBC’s iconic Saturday Night Live from 2003 to 2006, contributing to his recognition with a Writers Guild of America award in 2007 for Best Comedy/Variety Series. His early career also included writing and performing on Def Comedy Jam in 1995 and starring in and narrating Pootie Tang in 2001.

Further expanding his voice acting portfolio, Smoove joined the cast of Harley Quinn as Frank the Plant from 2019 through 2025. In 2017, Smoove authored The Book of Leon: Philosophy of a Fool, offering fans a deeper dive into the persona of his beloved Curb Your Enthusiasm character. Most recently, JB Smoove has continued to engage audiences across new media platforms. In 2021, he co-hosted and co-created the podcast May I Elaborate?
