Linn Svahn entered the cross-country ski leagues in 2019 and has already broken records: at twenty years old with only seven starts, she’s won three World Cups, proving herself as one of the fastest skiers in the league.
Hailing from Sweden, Svahn currently competes for the club, Östersunds SK, as well as the national team. She earned international attention when she got bronze at the 2019 Junior World Championships for her 4 x 3.33 km relay. That same year, she won her first world cup during a 1.5 km sprint in Switzerland. With her signature speed, she won two more World Cup sprints: a 1.3 km race in Germany, as well as a 1.4 km race in her stomping grounds of Sweden. She’s even nabbed a bronze for her 1.2 km sprint during the World Cup in Norway, meaning she wins 75% of her individual podiums.
In addition to her solo performance, she also has two gold podiums with her team from the World Cup, of course, both in sprint. This accounts for both her 6 x 1.2 km gold in Slovenia, and her 12 x .65 km gold in Germany, respectively. With her winning streak in the sprint discipline, it comes as no surprise that for the sprint World Cup standings in 2020, she’s number one in the world. Also, she holds second place in the world for the U23 category.
Reporters from Daily Skier have noticed that it doesn’t matter the terrain: whether Svahn’s path to the finish line has sharp turns, rolling hills, high altitude, or as flat as an airplane runway, she performs the same. Her speed has no Achilles heel. That’s why no one in the history of cross-country skiing has achieved what she has at such a young age.
