One of Australia’s most versatile presenting talents is Livinia Nixon. The people of Melbourne will perhaps know her best as the long-serving weather presenter for GTV-9, but with her career now entering its fourth decade, she has also fronted some of the country’s most iconic and enduring shows. In the corporate events arena, she is never out of demand as an MC, keynote speaker, and host.
Born and raised in Toolak, a suburb of Melbourne, Nixon was 20 when she got her first television break in a milk advert. Her presenting career began with Plucka’s Place, a children’s show on GTV-9. This led to her being offered a job presenting Hey Hey It’s Saturday, a nationally-broadcast children’s show and multi-award winning Australian institution. Nixon co-hosted the show for its final two years and also took part in its 2009 revival. A drivetime radio slot on Melbourne’s TT FM saw her team up with Ed Phillips, and the pair developed such winning chemistry that they were chosen to host Temptation, a major revival of classic game show Sale of the Century, which ran for four successful years. Among her many other television credits are Getaway and The National IQ Test.
As a host of corporate events, Nixon has hosted functions for many household brands and organisations, including the Australian Open, L’Oreal, the Sydney Motor Show, and Toyota. She is an ambassador for the Junior Diabetes Foundation and World Vision. Her involvement with the latter saw her travel to Thailand, helping to rebuild lives shattered by the 2004 tsunami.
