About

Born on July 1, 1991, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Logan Thomas began his football journey at Brookville High School, where he showcased versatility playing quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, and defensive back. His senior year as a quarterback saw him complete 118 of 204 passes for 1,535 yards and 20 touchdowns, alongside 842 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. On defense, he contributed 80 tackles and four interceptions. A four-star recruit, Thomas committed to Virginia Tech, where he lettered in track and field in addition to his football pursuits, earning All-state honors in various events including the 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, high jump, and discus.

After redshirting in 2009 and serving as a backup quarterback in 2010, Thomas became Virginia Tech’s starting quarterback in 2011. He finished his college career as Virginia Tech’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns. In the 2014 NFL Draft, Thomas was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round as a quarterback. Over the next few years, he spent time with the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants, primarily in a reserve quarterback role.

A significant turning point in Thomas’s career occurred in 2016 when he switched to tight end with the Detroit Lions, a position he had previously played in high school. This transition proved successful, leading to a long tenure as a tight end for various NFL teams, including the Buffalo Bills and most notably, the Washington Football Team/Commanders. He played 94 games over his career, accumulating 219 receptions for 2,002 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. His adaptability and perseverance in redefining his role in professional football have been central to his career progression.
