Lorena Wiebes

Lorena Wiebes was born on March 17, 1999, in Mijdrecht, Netherlands. She began her professional road cycling career in 2018 with Parkhotel Valkenburg. Her early career saw rapid success, including becoming the Dutch National Road Race champion in 2019 and winning the gold medal in the road race at the 2019 European Games, where she outperformed Marianne Vos. Her performance at the Tour of Chongming Island in 2019, where she secured the overall, points, and young rider classifications, further established her as a rising talent.

In 2020, Wiebes moved to Team Sunweb, continuing her impressive streak with victories like the Three Days of Bruges–De Panne and Omloop van het Hageland. The years 2021 and 2022 were particularly successful, marked by multiple stage wins in major tours such as the Giro Rosa and the Tour de France Femmes. She also demonstrated dominance in one-day races, repeatedly winning events like Ronde van Drenthe and Scheldeprijs. Her consistent performance led to her winning the road race at the European Road Cycling Championships in both 2022 and 2024. In August 2022, Wiebes transitioned to Team SD Worx, signing a three-year contract, which was later extended until the end of 2028.

Wiebes continued to achieve significant milestones across various cycling forms. In road cycling, she secured her first cycling monument victory at the Milan–San Remo Women in 2025 and reached her 100th race victory at Gent–Wevelgem in March 2025. Beyond road racing, she has also achieved success in track cycling, becoming the world champion in the scratch race at the 2024 UCI Track Cycling World Championships and the European champion in the Omnium at the 2025 UEC European Track Championships. Her versatility extends to gravel cycling, where she earned a bronze medal at the 2024 UCI Gravel World Championships and became the UCI World Champion in 2025, showcasing her capabilities across diverse cycling disciplines.
