About

Luis Miguel Coronel Gámez, known professionally as Luis Coronel, was born on February 3, 1996, in Tucson, Arizona. His musical journey began at a young age, with early experiences singing in a church choir. During his teenage years, Coronel initially pursued boxing, a path he later left to concentrate on his musical aspirations. His career gained momentum after he recorded himself singing for a crowd following a boxing match, and also by uploading videos of his performances to Facebook. These online efforts led to a significant following, capturing the attention of music industry professionals.

At the age of sixteen, Luis Coronel signed with DEL Records in 2012. This marked the beginning of his professional recording career in regional Mexican music. His early singles, including “Mi niña traviesa,” “Será más fácil,” and “Escápate,” achieved positions on Billboard charts. In September 2013, he released his debut album, “Con la frente en alto.” This album achieved critical and commercial success, earning a spot on the Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart within three weeks of its release and later receiving a RIAA Gold certification for selling 30,000 copies in the Latin field.

Coronel continued to build on his early success, receiving the “New Artist of the Year” award at the 2014 Latin Billboard Music Awards. The following year, he was nominated for Male Artist of the Year in the Regional Mexican category at the 27th Lo Nuestro Awards, an accolade he subsequently won. His career progression includes signing with Sony Music Latin in 2017, demonstrating his continued growth and influence within the music industry. He has further diversified his involvement, including hosting talent competitions and participating as a panelist at industry events like Billboard Latin Music Week.
