World championship and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Luke Greenbank is a professional swimmer from England. He won medals in the 200-meter backstroke at the Olympic Games, as well as at the World and European championships. He also swam the opening leg for the Great Britain medley relay teams that won gold at the 2019 World and 2020 European Championships. At the Summer Olympics in 2020, he ran the leadoff leg for Great Britain and captured a silver medal in the men’s 4 x 100-meter medley relay. At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, he led off for England and won a gold medal in the men’s 4 x 100-meter medley relay heats.
At the European, World, and Commonwealth Games, Greenbank’s 4 x 100 m Men’s Medley Relay team have taken home gold medals. He won two gold medals at the 2015 European Games, which doubled as the European Junior Swimming Championships (200 m, 100 m backstroke), and set a new Junior World record in the 200 m backstroke. Greenbank holds the uncommon distinction of having won medals at the Olympic Games, World Championships, European Games, Commonwealth Games, and a complete set of junior competitions (Youth Olympics, World Juniors and European Juniors).
At the 2022 European Aquatics Championships, Greenbank placed fourth in the 200-meter backstroke preliminary heats with a time of 1:57.81, earning a spot in the evening semifinals. He qualified for the final with a time of 1:57.07 in the semifinals, placing third. With a time of 1:56.15, he finished third in the competition, 0.53 seconds behind Frenchman Yohann Ndoye-Brouard, who took home the gold.
