Luna Maya

Luna Maya, an Indonesian actress, singer, model, and presenter of Austrian descent, has made significant contributions to the entertainment industry. She began her career as an advertising and catwalk model, gracing campaigns for brands such as Lux, XL, and Toshiba.

Luna’s acting debut came with a supporting role as an antagonist in the 2004 film “30 Hari Mencari Cinta,” earning her critical acclaim. This success was followed by roles in “Brownies” (2005) and “Cinta Silver,” where she starred alongside Rima Melati and Catherine Wilson. Her impressive performances continued with “Ruang,” “Jakarta Undercover,” and “Pesan Dari Surga,” for which she received a Citra Award nomination for Best Leading Actress at the 2006 Indonesian Film Festival.

In 2008, Luna appeared in “In the Name of Love,” directed by Rudy Soedjarwo, and collaborated with Dewi Sandra and Sandra Dewi on the Indonesian theme song for Euro 2008, titled “Play.” She has also acted in several popular soap operas, including “Dan,” “Kau Dan Aku,” “Ada Cinta,” “Rahasiaku,” and “Anggun.”

Beyond acting, Luna was one of the torchbearers at the 2008 Summer Olympics and collaborated with Dide Hijau Daun on the song “Suara (Ku Berharap)” for her film “Janda Kembang.” She is also the owner of Luna Habit, an online clothing store.

Luna has been nominated for over 50 awards in music, film, and television, winning more than 30. She directed the indie short film “Suci and The City,” music videos for singer Dhea Ananda and the band Malka, and the film “Pintu Harmonika.”

In 2020, Luna became the host and judge of “Indonesia’s Next Top Model,” which premiered on November 28, 2020, and aired until April 9, 2021. Internationally, she is known for her roles in the homage film trilogy “Suzzanna New Generation,” which includes “Suzzanna: Buried Alive” (2018), “Suzzanna: Santet Ilmu Pelebur Nyawa” (2021), and “Suzzanna: Kliwon Friday Night” (2023).
