Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes

Born on July 13, 1991, in Toronto, Ontario, Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes was raised in Calgary, Alberta, where he began his ski jumping training at Canada Olympic Park. He made his World Cup debut in Vancouver in 2009, placing 42nd. That same year, he competed at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic, finishing 46th in the individual large hill event. His early career also included his first Olympic appearance at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where he competed in individual normal hill, individual large hill, and large hill team events.

Boyd-Clowes continued to develop his career, participating in the FIS Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund, Norway, in 2012. During this period, he set a Canadian ski flying national record of 205 meters in Harrachov, Czech Republic, in 2013, a record he later improved upon. He represented Canada again at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, finishing 25th in the individual large hill event, which was his best result at that time. After a one-season break, he returned to the World Cup circuit in the 2015/16 season. He further improved his national ski flying record to 216.5 meters at Kulm, Austria, during the training round of the FIS Ski Flying World Championships in 2016.

His career reached a significant milestone at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where he was part of the Canadian mixed team that secured a bronze medal. This achievement marked Canada’s first Olympic medal in the sport of ski jumping. Boyd-Clowes has consistently competed at the highest levels of the sport, participating in multiple World Championships and maintaining presence in World Cup standings across various seasons, showcasing his dedication and longevity in ski jumping.
