Marcel Ruiz made his impressive senior debut in Liga MX with Querétaro on July 21, 2018. He quickly demonstrated his exceptional talent, scoring his first goal for the team on August 22, 2018, a performance that notably established him as the youngest scorer of the Liga MX season at just 17 years old. His early football journey included competition in the Danone Nations Cup and the Liga Premier de México, which led to his recruitment into the youth system of Querétaro F.C. In July 2020, Ruiz transferred to Club Tijuana, where his versatility became a cornerstone of his development.

On the senior international stage, Ruiz made his debut for the Mexico national team in March 2023, participating in the 202223 CONCACAF Nations League, and was a key member of the squad that triumphed in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2025, solidifying his status as a formidable midfielder for both club and country.
