Marcus “Buff” Bagwell

Marcus ‘Buff’ Bagwell is a celebrated professional wrestler who achieved immense success in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), securing five World Tag Team Championships. Beginning his professional wrestling career in 1990 under Steve Lawler, Bagwell briefly adopted the charismatic persona of The Handsome Stranger in the Global Wrestling Federation (GWF) in 1991, known for his fan interaction. Moving to World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1991, where he initially wrestled under his full name, marked the start of a decorated career. His early years saw him form formidable tag teams, capturing his first WCW World Tag Team Championship in 1993 alongside 2 Cold Scorpio.

A defining chapter began in 1996 when Bagwell joined the iconic New World Order (nWo), rebranding as ‘Buff’ Bagwell and cultivating his confident persona characterized by flexing and self-compliments. During this period, he also competed for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) as part of nWo Japan. Bagwell continued his dominant run in WCW, adding four more World Tag Team Championship reigns: with The Patriot in 1994, with Scotty Riggs as part of the popular “American Males” in 1995, and a final reign with Shane Douglas in 2000. His career, however, also saw significant challenges, including a severe neck injury sustained in 1998 during a tag team match, necessitating an extensive recovery.

He continues to make public appearances and maintain a strong presence, demonstrating an optimistic outlook on his future within the sport.
