Marcus Filly is a perennial CrossFit Games athlete also globally famous for his internationally successful Functional Bodybuilding brand. Filly has coached clients from all corners of the world and has coached leading athletes at the CrossFit Games. He competed at the CrossFit Games on 6 occasions, three times as a team member and three times as an individual competitor. Filly is a member and captain of Phoenix Rise in the National Pro Grid League, and has been voted to the all GRID league team on two consecutive occasions, earning the award for leadership excellence in 2015 and 1st team honours in 2016.
Filly was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area of the United States and was a talented athlete as a child, playing multiple sports including baseball, soccer and golf. He attended the University of California, Berkeley where he earned his degree in Molecular and Cell Biology specialising in Nutrition and Physiology, and he also continued to play soccer playing for the University. Filly then attended the Ohio State University School of Medicine, and in 2007 his interest in human health and performance combined with his love for athletics led him to CrossFit.
Since graduating from Medical School in 2009, Filly has completed all 5 OPEX CCP courses and has been a health and fitness coach for over a decade, sharing his expertise with both athletes and everyday people including over 442.6k followers on Instagram.
