Maria Catalan

Queen of Salsa and Bachata Maria Catalan is a three-time world salsa champion and a National Bachata Champion. She holds titles from the World Latin Dance Cup and the Euroson Latina with her current dance partner Jorge Martinez. The talented dance star represented Mexico in Spain at the World Bachata Masters competition and was previously runner up in the 2015 World Latin Dance Cup Salsa On2 Champion with her previous partner Oscar Sosa. Along with Martinez she now spends the majority of her time travelling the globe teaching, performing and competing at Salsa and Bachata Congresses and Festivals, from Los Angeles to Rome and Korea to New Zealand. The sensational pair have become world renowned for their impeccable technique, superb instruction and incredible partnerwork.

Born in the city of Oaxaca, Mexico, Catalan first turned heads nationally with her energetic salsa and bachata skills before rising to prominence internationally dancing with partners Sosa and Martinez. Also a talented choreographer, when she isn’t performing around the globe or winning more World titles she can often be found helping others learn how to create the intricate salsa partnerwork that has made her famous with Martinez as part of the Jorge y Maria Experience. The salsa superstar also regularly connects with her thousands of followers on social media, sharing her pictures of her dancing career, her family life and her travels.
