After a successful foundational career in dinghy classes, including competitive participation in the Europe dinghy, Laaksonen strategically transitioned into match racing and rapidly ascended through the competitive ranks. She has consistently led her L2 Match Racing Team to national dominance, securing the prestigious Finnish Women’s Match Racing Nationals title an impressive three times within four years leading up to 2019, a testament to her consistent performance and strategic prowess. Laaksonen made her impactful debut on the international stage of the WIM Series in 2016, the premier global circuit for women’s match racing, immediately challenging and competing effectively against top-tier international crews.
