Tanja Frank

Tanja Chiara Frank was born on January 24, 1993, in Vienna, Austria. From an early age, she demonstrated an aptitude for sailing, progressing through youth classes like Optimist and 420. Her dedication to the sport led her to pursue competitive sailing at an elite level, focusing on Olympic-class vessels. Her career has been marked by a continuous drive for improvement and adapting to new challenges within the demanding world of professional sailing.

Frank’s Olympic journey began with her participation in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Competing in the mixed Nacra 17 class, she secured a bronze medal, a significant achievement for her and for Austria. Following this, she was honored as a flag bearer for Austria during the closing ceremonies of the Games, alongside her sailing partner, Thomas Zajac. This milestone marked her as a notable figure in Austrian sports.

Her career further developed through subsequent Olympic cycles and world championships. She competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 49er FX Women class, finishing 17th. Her commitment to diverse boat classes continued, participating in the Mixed Multihull event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she placed 15th. Earlier in her career, she also achieved a silver medal at the 2018 Aarhus Sailing World Championships in the 49er FX category, demonstrating her versatility and sustained competitive edge across different sailing disciplines.
