Mario Dedivanovic was born on October 1, 1983, in the Bronx, New York, to Albanian parents from Montenegro. Early in his career, he worked at the fragrance counter at Sephora’s Flatiron location in Manhattan, where he was one of the original cast members of the US team. He later gained experience working for LORAC, at Saks Fifth Avenue’s Armani counter, and with Fox newscasters Megyn Kelly and Julie Banderas. His passion for makeup artistry began at Sephora when he assisted a woman with lipstick selection. This experience led him to undertake his first professional makeup job at age 17, doing makeup for two singers he met at Sephora for a cabaret show, earning $25. From these early days, Dedivanovic set a career goal to become a professional makeup artist and eventually launched his own makeup line. He dedicated himself to this vision.
Dedivanovic’s career progressed rapidly, and he began working with celebrity clients. His first notable celebrity client was Natasha Bedingfield. He later worked with a range of celebrities including Kate Bosworth, Naomie Harris, Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, and Demi Lovato. A significant long-term collaboration began in 2008 with Kim Kardashian, with whom he popularized the facial contouring technique. In 2009, Dedivanovic pioneered “The Master Class,” a live makeup tutorial and educational program that has grown from 16 students to over 2,000 students per class, selling out rapidly. Over 30,000 students across North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East have attended his Master Classes.
In 2020, Mario Dedivanovic launched his eponymous beauty brand, Makeup By Mario, further establishing his presence in the beauty industry.
