Kevin Williams

Kevin Williams was born on August 16, 1980, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He attended Fordyce High School, where he excelled in football and set multiple records. Williams continued his collegiate football career at Oklahoma State University, starting 42 games. During his time at Oklahoma State, he accumulated 160 tackles, 38 tackles for loss, and 18.5 sacks. He played a crucial role in improving the team’s performance, leading them to an 8–5 overall record and a Houston Bowl appearance in 2002, which was a significant achievement for the program.

Following an impressive performance at the Senior Bowl, Williams was selected ninth overall in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. In his rookie year, he immediately made an impact, leading the Vikings with 10.5 sacks, the second-highest by a Vikings rookie. He was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team and was recognized as the NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month in December 2003. Known for his consistent play, Williams became a cornerstone of the Vikings’ defense for 11 seasons.

Williams’ career with the Vikings saw him named to six Pro Bowls and earn five First-Team All-Pro selections. He formed the “Williams Wall” with teammate Pat Williams, helping the Vikings achieve the best rushing defense in the league for three consecutive seasons from 2006 to 2008. After his tenure with the Vikings, he played for the Seattle Seahawks in 2014, reaching his first Super Bowl, and then for the New Orleans Saints in 2015. Williams officially retired from the NFL on July 27, 2016, by signing a one-day contract with the Minnesota Vikings, which allowed him to retire as a Viking. He is also a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame All-2000s Team.
