Marlo Fisken has been immersed in movement for over three decades, with 30 years of dance study and 18 years of teaching experience. She is a graduate of the Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts, where she majored in modern dance, and holds a degree in Anthropology and Public Relations from the University of Miami. Her early career in New York City included professional dance credits in films, commercials, and television, alongside work in the fitness industry, where she expanded her knowledge of the human body. Fisken is widely recognized as a pole dance innovator, having started experimenting with the pole 13 years ago, prior to the widespread presence of mainstream competitions. She developed a unique approach that emphasizes fluidity and playfulness in pole movement.
Fisken’s career is marked by significant achievements and milestones. In 2010, she was crowned the American Pole Fitness Association Female Champion, followed by the Aerial Pole International Champion title in 2011. Her contributions to the fitness and pole dance communities were further acknowledged in 2013 when she was named the International Pole Dance Fitness Association’s Instructor of the Year. That same year, she won a Webby Award in the Online Film and Video category for “The Last Goodbye.” Fisken is the creator of Flow Movement, a wellness and apparel brand that offers a playful, exploratory approach to ground-based movement, drawing inspiration from yoga, athletic conditioning, acrobatics, and her extensive dance background. She has performed and taught pole dancing and movement in over 70 countries.
Throughout her career, Marlo Fisken has collaborated with numerous brands and appeared in various media.
