After being drafted 20th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft, Martin Brodeur embarked on a legendary career, first distinguishing himself in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for the Saint-Hyacinthe Laser, earning spots on the QMJHL All-Rookie Team in 198990 and the QMJHL Second All-Star Team in 199192. He made his NHL debut in the 199192 season, playing four games, and after a season with the Utica Devils in the American Hockey League (AHL), returned to the NHL permanently in 199394. In his first full season, Brodeur won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the leagues best rookie and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team, leading the Devils to the Eastern Conference Finals.
