Martins Licis is a Latvian-American professional strongman, with multiple top-tier victories and world records in the sport. After winning the Odd Haugen All-American Strength Classic in 2015, professional strongman Martins Licis swiftly established himself in the elite ranks of the sport. The same year marked the beginning of his professional strongman career, which saw him reach the World’s Strongest Man (WSM) finals in 2016, securing a sixth-place finish. His early career continued to build momentum with a gold medal at the MAS Wrestling Open World Championships in 2016, followed by his first professional triumph at the Ultimate Strongman Summermania in 2017.
After recovering from injuries, Licis made a significant comeback in 2021, winning the Rogue Invitational, an event known for featuring the largest prize purse in strongman history. In 2022, Licis further solidified his position by winning the Arnold Strongman Classic, an event where he had previously placed second in 2019 and third in 2020. That same year, he earned a second-place finish at the World’s Strongest Man competition and placed fourth at the 2022 Rogue Invitational. In March 2024, Licis competed at the Arnold Strongman Classic, finishing eighth, before announcing an eight-month recovery period after withdrawing from the 2024 World’s Strongest Man competition due to sciatica.
Beyond competitive strongman, Licis is involved in the YouTube series ‘Strength Unknown,’ which explores global strength cultures. He has also expanded his entrepreneurial ventures, launching Wreck-It Gym and the Wreck-It Power app, which provides comprehensive training programs. His media presence includes appearances on television shows such as ‘World’s Strongest Man,’ ‘Game On!,’ and ‘To Tell the Truth,’ as well as featuring in a national Geico commercial. Licis is actively pursuing acting, with potential roles in upcoming film projects.
