Martyn Ford was born in Staffordshire, England, to Lorraine and Stephen Ford. From a young age, he displayed notable athletic abilities, particularly excelling in cricket to a professional youth level as an opening bowler for the Warwickshire youth team. However, his aspirations for a cricketing career were cut short due to a series of setbacks, including a groin injury, glandular fever, and personal challenges. These events led to a period of depression and anorexia. Following this difficult phase, Ford transitioned into bodybuilding, undergoing a significant physical transformation that redefined his career direction.
His dedication to bodybuilding quickly established him within the fitness industry, where he gained recognition for his massive size and muscularity, earning him the nickname “The Nightmare.” Beyond being an internet sensation and fitness influencer, Ford leveraged his athletic background and work ethic into a successful acting career. He has amassed a significant social media following of over 3 million people worldwide and signed a professional MMA contract with KSW. His acting roles have spanned from HBO television series to Hollywood blockbusters, highlighting his adaptability to characters requiring a formidable physical representation. Martyn Ford’s ability to adjust his physique, ranging from a lean 6’6″ 310lbs to a 360lb mass, combined with his MMA training, contributes to his powerful on-screen presence, particularly in action sequences.
Ford’s notable filmography includes playing Koshmar in “Boyka: Undisputed” (2016) alongside Scott Adkins, and Vlad in “Final Score” (2018) with Dave Bautista and Pierce Brosnan, for which he received a nomination for best fight scene of the year. In 2017, he appeared in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” with actors such as Michael Gambon, Colin Firth, and Taron Egerton. More recently, he featured as Lieutenant Sue in “F9: The Fast Saga,” released in 2021, and as Nicholas Perbal ‘Odium’ in the HBO series “The Nevers” (2021-2023). He is also set to portray Shao Kahn in “Mortal Kombat II” (2026), further solidifying his presence in action cinema.
