Matt James

Matt James has transitioned from collegiate athlete and real estate professional to becoming a prominent television personality and community advocate. After becoming the first Black male lead for Season 25 of ‘The Bachelor’ in 2021, Matt James brought a new dimension to the iconic franchise. Prior to his significant television debut, James earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wake Forest University in 2015, where he also played wide receiver for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons football team from 2011 to 2014. Following his collegiate career, he earned mini-camp tryouts with NFL teams including the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints in 2015.

His prominent role on ‘The Bachelor’ solidified his public profile, paving the way for further television appearances. In September 2021, James expanded his presence by participating in Season 30 of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ where he was partnered with professional dancer Lindsay Arnold and ultimately finished in 12th place. Building on his athletic background, James has also established himself as an accomplished marathon runner. He successfully completed the rigorous New York City Marathon in 2022, demonstrating remarkable endurance and discipline.
