Matt Mccall

While earning his undergraduate degree in exercise and sports science in 2004 and a master’s in the same concentration in 2006, McCall served as a student manager from 2001 to 2004 before advancing to Director of Basketball Operations from 2006 to 2008. During this initial period with the Gators, he was instrumental in their success, which included four SEC Tournament titles and a Final Four appearance. McCall further developed his coaching expertise as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic from 2008 to 2011, where he significantly contributed to their best Division I season in 2010-11, achieving a 21-11 record and a Sun Belt Regular Season title. His exceptional leadership earned him the Southern Conference Coach of the Year award in 2016.

On March 29, 2017, McCall was appointed the 22nd head coach for University of Massachusetts men’s basketball, a position he held through 2022. During his tenure, UMass achieved its highest A-10 Championship seed since 2008 in the 2021-22 season. He notably led the team to the A-10 Quarterfinals for the first time since 2016, highlighted by achieving the largest margin of victory in Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament history with a commanding 34-point win over Saint Joseph’s. Following his coaching career, McCall transitioned into a prominent role as a game and studio analyst, sharing his insights across various major media platforms.

Currently, McCall serves as a respected game and studio analyst for NBC Sports college basketball coverage, providing expert commentary and analysis. He is also a valued member of the Field of 68 Media Network, contributes to Sirius XM, and offers his expertise on CBS Sports HQ. Complementing his sports analysis career, McCall is also a South Florida Realtor.
