Matt Taven is an American professional wrestler and wrestling trainer who goes by the ring name Matthew Marinelli. He is employed by Ring of Honor (ROH), where he has been since 2012. In 2019, Taven took home the Ring of Honor World Championship in Madison Square Garden. He is also a former NWA World Historic Welterweight Champion for the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).
Taven’s Ring of Honor involvement includes being a member of The Kingdom, as well as touring across the Northeastern United States independent circuit with Adam Cole, Michael Bennett, Maria Kanellis, Vinny Marseglia, and TK O’Ryan at various times. Taven won ROH’s Top Prospect Tournament in 2013 and is now a full-time performer for the company. He is a former ROH World Champion, World Television Champion, ROH World Tag Team Champion, and one-third of the first ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions alongside Michael Bennett. Taven has also worked for the Japanese organization New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he and Bennett were once IWGP Tag Team Champions. Rocky Romero is the only other wrestler to have won championships in ROH, CMLL, and NJPW.
