Matthew Antoine has transitioned from a decorated Olympian in skeleton racing to a Head Coach for the USA Skeleton Team. After securing a gold medal in the mixed team event at the 2012 FIBT World Championships in Lake Placid, New York, Matthew Antoine went on to cement his legacy as a decorated Olympian in skeleton racing. Antoine began his career in the sport in 2003, showcasing early determination after being cut from his initial skeleton camp. He further honed his understanding of elite sports, graduating from the California University of Pennsylvania in 2009 with a degree in Sports Management, Wellness, and Fitness.
His competitive prowess continued to rise, achieving his best World Cup race finish with a first-place victory in Lake Placid in December 2013 and ranking an impressive third overall in the highly competitive 201314 Skeleton World Cup season. Antoine’s Olympic career is highlighted by his historic bronze medal win at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. This achievement marked the first U.S. medal in men’s skeleton since Jimmy Shea’s gold in 2002, underscoring Antoine’s significant contribution to American sliding sports.
