Famously known as a professional wrestler, Matthew Riddle is also known as a former mixed martial artist. Riddle attended Saratoga Springs High School in New York, where he also was a state wrestling champion in 2004. During his high school studies, Riddle pinned who would be the future United Fighting Championship – UFC champion, Jon Jones. Riddle kept being part of the wrestling world even during his university studies at East Stroudsburg University, where Riddle won many championships. Riddle is also known as an MMA amateur. During the time when Riddle was in MMA, he also worked as a roofer and trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. To get into The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), Riddle fought against Dan Simmler, an understudy of Matt Serra. As soon as the fight started, Riddle knocked out Simmler, breaking his jaw in two places. This knockout was named the biggest knockout in TUF history by Dana White, and by Quinton Rampage Jackson as the knock out of the century. In 2008, Riddle made his first UFC professional debut by defeating Dante Rivera. Riddle continued fighting at UFC until 2014, when he finished his UFC career ranked 3rd in UFC history for takedown defense and 8th for total strikes landed. Riddle holds four-fight win streak in the UFC. In 2018, Riddle signed with WWE and got assigned to the NXT brand, where he was a one-time NXT Tag Team Champion. In May 2020, Riddle got promoted to WWE’s main rooster.
