Kira Renée Magnin-Forster, known professionally as Taya Valkyrie, was born on October 22, 1983, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Her early career involved classical ballet training, gymnastics, and fitness modeling, which included placing 1st in the CBBF Canadian Championships in 2010 and 2nd in the Arnold Amateur in 2011. She began her professional wrestling training in 2010 with Lance Storm at the Storm Wrestling Academy, graduating the same year. After training, she competed in various Canadian promotions, most notably Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW).
Valkyrie’s career expanded into Mexico, where she was initially scheduled for a six-week stay but was convinced to remain and join the “Los Perros del Mal” stable in 2012. Her debut in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide followed in November 2012. Over the next several years, she became a prominent figure, winning her first AAA Reina de Reinas Championship in August 2014 at Triplemanía XXII. This reign lasted 945 days, marking it as the longest in the title’s history. After a brief loss, she reclaimed the title in April 2017. Her tenure with AAA concluded temporarily in July 2017 amidst controversy surrounding the championship’s vacancy.
In 2017, Valkyrie debuted with Impact Wrestling, establishing herself as a significant competitor. She captured the Impact Knockouts Championship in January 2019 at Homecoming, holding the title for 377 days and becoming the longest-reigning champion in its history. During this time, she also challenged for the Impact World Championship, participating in the first-ever main event featuring two women in a world title match. Later, she returned to AAA, winning the Reina de Reinas Championship for a third time in September 2019. In 2021, she signed with WWE, competing under the name Franky Monet in NXT, which included a title match for the NXT Women’s Championship. Following her release from WWE in November 2021, she re-established her presence in AAA and Impact Wrestling, winning multiple championships, including her fourth AAA Reina de Reinas Championship and two Impact Knockouts World Tag Team Championships. She later debuted in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in March 2023, where she continues to compete.
