Before his television career, Matty J worked in marketing, gaining experience with agencies in Sydney and London. His public profile began to rise in 2016 when he appeared as a contestant on the second season of “The Bachelorette Australia,” where he finished as the runner-up. This initial exposure led to him becoming a recognizable figure in Australian media.
In 2017, Johnson took on the lead role in the fifth season of “The Bachelor Australia,” a significant turning point in his career. In this season, he selected Laura Byrne as the winner, and they later married on November 11, 2022, in Mollymook, New South Wales, and have three children. Following his time on “The Bachelor,” Matty J expanded his presence across various media platforms.
