Maxx Robert Crosby was born on August 22, 1997, in Lapeer, Michigan, and later moved to Colleyville, Texas. His early football career began at Colleyville Heritage High School. He attended Eastern Michigan for college, where he played collegiate football from 2015 to 2018. Eastern Michigan was the only college to offer him a scholarship. During his time there, he earned first-team All-MAC honors in 2017 and 2018, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport.
Crosby was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He quickly made an impact, recording his first career sack in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears. His rookie season saw him achieve ten sacks, 47 total tackles, four passes defended, and four forced fumbles, earning him AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 11 for a four-sack performance against the Cincinnati Bengals. Throughout his professional career with the Raiders, he has consistently performed at a high level, securing multiple Pro Bowl selections from 2021 to 2024 and being named second-team All-Pro twice, in 2021 and 2023.
Beyond his NFL accomplishments, Crosby has maintained a strong connection to his alma mater. In 2023, he was inducted into Eastern Michigan’s Ring of Honor, and in 2024, the playing field at Rynearson Stadium was renamed “Crosby Field” following a $1 million donation. In April 2025, he was appointed Assistant General Manager of the Eastern Michigan football program, making him the first active NFL player to hold such a position. He has also been open about his personal journey, including his sobriety since March 2020.
