Meisa Kuroki is a Japanese actress, singer and model, born in 1988 in Okinawa Japan (birth name Satsuki Shimabukuro). She was spotted by a fashion scout and started modelling while still at junior high school. She has since modelled for many top brands such as L’Oreal, who chose her to be the international face of their cosmetics brand. She trained at Okinawa Actors School, graduating in 2007.
From her debut in 2004 Kuroki went on to act in many popular Japanese TV shows, commercials, films and in theatre. Theatrical productions she has appeared in including the Azumi productions, the musical ‘Endless Shock’, ‘Onna Nobunaga’, ‘Hiryuden’ and ‘Last Princess’. On TV she was in the Fuji TV drama ‘Medaka’, ‘Haikei’, ‘Chichiue-sama’, ‘Kaze no Garden’ and ‘Shinzanmono’. She won the TV Drama Academy Award and TV Life Drama Grand Prix for Best Supporting Actress in 2009 for her part on the Fuji TV drama ‘Ninkyo Helper’.
Kuroki has won many awards throughout her career, she was in ‘Chakushin Ari:Final’ earning the Golden Arrow Award for Newcomer of the Year. She was in the anime film ‘Vexille’ and ‘Subaru’. She was in ‘Assault Girls’, and ‘Space Battleship Yamato’. Kuroki is also a talented singer who is signed to Sony Music Japan. She worked on the soundtrack of the film Crows Zero and in 2008 her debut single was titled ‘Like This’. Her first EP in 2009 was titled Hellcat and was soon followed by Attitude. Her first studio album was titled Magazine and was widely popular. Kuroki married musician Jin Akanishi in 2012 and they have two children together.
