Mía Maestro was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 19, 1978. She moved to Berlin at 18 to study classical music, dance, and acting. Her acting career began in 1998 with her film debut in “Tango,” which garnered Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for Best Foreign Film. This early success was followed by roles in films such as “The Venice Project” (1999), “Timecode” (2000), “Picking Up the Pieces” (2000), and “El astillero” (2000). She made her television debut in 2000 in the movie “For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story.” Maestro continued to build her filmography with notable roles, including Cristina Kahlo in “Frida” (2002) and Chichina Ferreyra in the critically acclaimed “The Motorcycle Diaries” (2004), based on Che Guevara’s early life. She also appeared in the film “Poseidon” (2006).

In 2004, Maestro joined the cast of the spy drama “Alias” as Nadia Santos, a role that became a regular character by the fourth season. Her performance earned her an Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress. After her work on “Alias,” she took roles in films like “The Box” (2007) and “Visioneers” (2008). In 2010, she was cast as Carmen of the Denali Coven in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” (2011) and “Part 2” (2012). From 2014 to 2015, Maestro starred as Nora Martinez in the FX series “The Strain,” and in 2015, she made a guest appearance in “Hannibal” playing Allegra Pazzi. More recently, she recurred on FX’s “Mayans M.C.” from 2019 to 2021 and starred in the critically acclaimed indie drama “End of the Century” (2019).

Beyond acting, Maestro has pursued a musical career as a singer-songwriter. Her debut album, “Si Agua,” was released in 2014 by Arts & Crafts and Nacional Records. The album was recorded in Iceland and featured collaborations, including with Damien Rice on the track “Time to Go” from her EP “Blue Eyed Sailor” (2012). Her song “Lloverá” was featured on the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” soundtrack. She has performed internationally, opening for Emiliana Torrini in Reykjavík, Iceland, in 2010 and collaborating with the British band Faithless on their 2010 album “The Dance.”
