Michael Gruber, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a versatile American actor with a diverse background that includes achievements in both athletics and the arts. As the youngest of four siblings—two sisters and one brother—Michael’s early years were marked by a notable passion for gymnastics and diving. At the remarkable age of fourteen, he earned the title of the 2nd best diver in his age class globally, foreshadowing the determination that would later define his career.
Graduating from Indian Hill High School in 1982, Michael pursued his Olympic aspirations at the University of Michigan on an athletic scholarship, training under the esteemed Olympic coach Dick Kimball. However, his true calling was found in acting, leading him to the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he studied theatre.
In 1989-90, Michael made his Broadway debut in the final company of A Chorus Line, marking the beginning of his successful acting career. Beyond his achievements on stage, he is a composer and co-lyricist alongside collaborator Jennifer Allen, with three musicals to their credit: The Old Dead Five, Vegas Organic, and Hit It, Mike!.
