Michaela Deitz

Michaela Dietz was born in Incheon, South Korea, on November 1, 1982, and was adopted and raised in Cooperstown, New York, at three months old. She began her professional acting career in 2005, initially appearing in live-action roles such as Ellie in the film “Discover Me.” Her early work also included short films like “Red, Black & Blonde” (2009) and “K-Town” (2009). Dietz’s educational background includes studying International Studies with a focus on Economics at Middlebury College.

Her career took a significant turn into voice acting, where she gained recognition for her role as Riff on the PBS children’s television series “Barney & Friends” from 2006 to 2010. A pivotal moment in her career was casting as Amethyst in the Cartoon Network series “Steven Universe” (2013-2019) and “Steven Universe Future” (2019-2020), which marked her first animated character role. Dietz’s personal experiences as an adoptee have informed her portrayal of Amethyst, a character with themes of belonging and identity. She reprised her role as Amethyst in several related mobile games, including “Cartoon Network Superstar Soccer: Goal” (2014) and “Steven Universe: Attack the Light” (2015), as well as the television film “Steven Universe: The Movie” (2019).

Dietz has since expanded her impressive voice acting portfolio with a variety of roles for major studios. For Disney, she has voiced Dolly Dalmatian in “101 Dalmatian Street” (2019-2020), Vee in “The Owl House” (2021-2023), and Darryl McGee in “The Ghost and Molly McGee” (2021-2024). She also contributed to other popular animated series, such as “Adventure Time: Distant Lands” (2020) as Glass Boy, and “Mighty Magiswords” (2017-2018) as Danelda. Her versatility extends to video games, with notable roles in “Grand Theft Auto V” (2013), “Lego Dimensions” (2015) as Chunk, and “Fallout 76: Wastelanders” (2020) as various voices. In 2021, she voiced Tomas in “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf” and provided narration for Cartoon Network’s digital series celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Her upcoming projects include voicing Bex in “Super Duper Bunny League” (2025) and Hannah Schwooper in “Long Story Short” (2025).
