Michaella McCollum, author of the compelling book ‘You’ll Never See Daylight Again’ and the subject of the critically received five-part documentary ‘High: Confessions of an Ibiza Drug Mule,’ has redefined her public narrative through resilience and educational pursuits. Her journey into the public eye began in August 2013, when she gained significant international attention following her arrest at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru. Accused alongside Melissa Reid of attempting to smuggle 12 kg (26 lbs) of cocaine, valued at approximately £1.5 million, McCollum pleaded guilty to drug smuggling. She was subsequently sentenced to six years and eight months of imprisonment in the Ancon 2 jail.
