It’s not often a state pageant winner wins the title twice in a row, but for Alex Francke, she’s been crowned Miss Kentucky two consecutive years.
Hailing from Lexington, Francke grew up admiring the strong, female leaders in her life, inspiring her to become a leader, herself. First, she was Miss Kentucky’s Outstanding Teen before she move up to the big leagues. As a graduate from University of Kentucky with studies in Management and International Business, and as a trained vocalist, she nailed both her public speaking and talent portions of the contest, making her the frontrunner of the competition.
After winning the crown, Francke used her platform to promote her passions: art and state pride. When she graduated from both the School for Creative and Performing Arts, as well as the Governor’s School for the Arts, she couldn’t believe so many Kentucky schools didn’t provide arts education. Hoping to afford children the same opportunities she had, she founded the nonprofit organization, “Adopt an Art,” helping make available free art, dance, drama, and music classes after school. Additionally, she’s now the official spokesperson for Kentucky Proud—a label issued by the Kentucky State Department of Agriculture, encouraging her community to purchase locally grown food.
As Miss Kentucky, Francke moved on to compete for Miss America. There, she advanced to the finals of the “Miss America Foundation’s Additional Scholarship Award,” and eventually earned the “Miss America 2020 Women in Business Award.” Francke was the first Miss Kentucky to receive this honor.
Now, Francke continues her duties as Miss Kentucky by speaking at schools, charity events, and even at the state capitol.
