The brilliant sportsman Mohamed “Mo” Salah is a professional footballer, who plays for Liverpool in the Premier League, and for his native Egypt on the international stage. He is considered to be one of the best players in the world, and amongst the greatest African players of all time.
Born and raised in Egypt, Salah started playing football at a young age, often having to miss school to make the three hour journey to training. He made his senior team debut in the Egyptian Premier League in 2010 with Al Mokawloon, and his natural skills and dedication quickly came to the attention of foreign talent scouts. In 2012 he signed a four-year contract with Swiss Super League club Basel. After winning two titles with the side, he joined Chelsea in 2014 for £11 million. He was sent out on loan to Fiorentina and Roma, and eventually joined Roma for €15 million. He became the highest-scoring Egyptian in Serie A history, with 35 goals in 81 games.
In July 2017 Salah returned to England, joining Liverpool for a then record transfer fee of £37 million. His first season with the Reds saw him set a record for the most Premier League goals scored (32) in a 38-game season. He has since helped the side to win the Premier League (2019-20) – the club’s first top-flight title since 1990, as well as an FA Cup, an EFL Cup, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the FA Community Shield. On the international stage, he is Egypt’s all-time highest scorer in the FIFA World Cup, as well as in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah regularly connects with his millions of followers and fans through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, posting pictures and videos of his life around football and family.
